AI as engineering versus AI as psychology

The first is concerned with making intelligent machines, not with building accurate models of mind. However, we can learn a lot from biological systems. A lot of different tools are available, some of which I'll talk about in later lectures. To the outsider, its best-known accomplishments are expert systems and neural nets.

The second raises many questions which the engineer can safely ignore, particularly about exactly what one is modelling.
